A downloadable game for Windows

Sector is a prototype build submission for Week 136 of the Weekly Gamejam.

Developed across 4 days (approx 24 hours), with all code and spritework developed by myself, and the sounds sourced from FreeSound.org

Ambitions for this prototype were larger than the Jam time limit would allow (see list of features not implemented but planned below), but is currently playable.

Please note, this submission does not currently have a win state, so gameplay will appear to be endless - but enjoy none the less!

How to play:

- Control both players with a twin-stick joypad device (developed for PS4 controller input) or a standard QWERTY keyboard
- Complete missions within the given time-limit by travelling to the identified Sector co-ordinates

Implemented features:

- Dynamic splitscreen, twin-stick, space combat
- Randomised mission system (Bounty Hunting and Enemy cleardown) across a 10x10 sector grid of space
- Single-controller input; at time of release, mapped to PS4 controllers (some other controller variants may be compatible - untested) or standard QWERTY Keyboard

Unimplemented features:

- Game 'win' state
- Background music
- Narrative dialogue (Tutorial system and battle log)
- Warp effects for spawning enemies
- Player markers to signify the location of the other player when splitscreen is enabled
- Multiple enemy types
- Multiple projectile types
- Boss missions
- Ship upgrade system through mission earnings

Known Bugs:

- Resolution/Display stretching can appear on aspect ratios that are not 16:10
- Player trails can appear to remain in place if a player is destroyed whilst they exist

Not much time was left to thoroughly test the final build, please let me know in the comments if you come across any game breaking issues!

The development of this submission will be going towards my main, ongoing project I'm currently working on in my spare time.

Thanks for playing
